Words Worth Reading
(with apologies to William Wordsworth)

I found my food and went to pay
And came across, just by the tills
A sign that Spring was underway
A host of golden daffodils

I longed to have those blooms so sweet
Despite the fearful credit crunch
But what the heck? I’ll have a treat
Reduced to just one pound a bunch

I wandered lonely, homeward bound
(I am too green to ride in cars)
Unpacked the shopping, looked around
And gazed on poetry in a vase
