The pause
Reality TV - goodness me
Just an excuse for celebrity
To go beyond their comfort zone
And have us reaching for the phone

The ballroom dancing’s rather nice
To make it harder add some ice
Learn to conduct or sing ‘un peu’
Or try some cooking, cordon bleu

The programme makers never cease
It’s like the worst sort of disease
And now they have us by the throat
Whate’er it is, we call and vote

As if this wasn’t bad enough
There’s one thing makes it extra tough
What’s worst about these ‘B list’ wars
Is the omnipresent ……… pause

It now seems obligatory
To elongate each week’s story
By adding quite a lengthy pause
Before result and then applause

So while we watch them holding hands
The audience shouts and even stands
Presenters seem to hesitate
And all that we can do is …….. wait

If I could rule the world my way
Even if for just a day
I’d quickly change the way it’s done
Remove the pause - just say who’s won
